Junior Club Rules

E-mail

Holmfirth Cricket Club, as a Clubmark recognised club, is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well being of all its members. The club believes it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club, should at all times show respect, be encouraged to be open and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with the Head Coach or the Team Managers or Coaches.

  1. As a member of Holmfirth C.C., you are expected to abide by the general rules of the club, its Cricketers’ Charter, and by following the junior club rules.
  2. All members must play cricket within the laws and in the spirit of the game.
  3. All members must respect colleagues, opponents and officials. Do not make derogatory comments or gestures about your colleagues or your opponents. Never try to intimidate the opposition by threats or excessive triumphant gestures.
  4. Be polite to umpires, and respect their decisions. Do not show dissent.  Do not throw tantrums or cricket bats on the way from the wicket or within the changing rooms. Such behaviour invites sanctions from club officials.
  5. Members should keep to agreed times for practice and matches, or inform their coach or team manager at the earliest possible opportunity if they cannot play, or are going to be late.
  6. All members must wear the correct kit, with cricket whites and suitable trainers or cricket shoes for matches. Club tracksuits and club training kit may be worn for practice nights. It is expected that all playing members are proud to wear the club colours when representing the club in league and friendly matches. Please tuck shirts in and wear caps the right way round!
  7. All players under the age of 18 years must wear helmets when batting and when standing up to the stumps for close fielding or wicket keeping.
  8. All players under 18 must wear helmets, batting gloves and boxes when practising with a hard ball (i.e. cricket ball) on the outfield, or during indoor practice.
