Welcome to the new cricket season at Holmfirth Cricket Club
As a “Clubmark” standard cricket club, Holmfirth Cricket Club is committed to ensuring that all our members will be given the opportunities to achieve their full potential in whatever skills attract them. “Clubmark” recognises that the club organisation and conduct meet the recognised standards as laid down by the English Cricket Board (ECB).
All or junior members are offered first class coaching in cricketing skills, from ECB trained coaches, in a fun and safe environment. Junior members also have the opportunity to play in competitive matches in the Huddersfield Junior Cricket League, or in local fun tournaments, for younger members.
The junior section has introduced selection principles which will be used this year to guide managers in their team selection. The principles aim to allow transparency in the selection process and to provide clarity for players and their parents. We aim for all junior members to have an opportunity to play in either competitive or friendly matches, but this cannot be guaranteed depending upon the number of juniors who sign on. A copy of the section guidance is enclosed within this sign on pack.
The Club has permanent practice nets at the car park end of the ground along with the use of the cricket pitch and artificial wicket for use on practice nights.
The clubhouse has seen some major renovations during 2010 and over the winter the lane to the club has been improved. The next project will then be the upstairs of the clubhouse which will be completely refurbished.
On the field of play, our senior teams continue to compete at the top levels of the Huddersfield League, and most Saturdays in the season, you can come down and watch some top class cricket here at the ground. Our Juniors will also be competing at all age groups in the Huddersfield Junior Cricket League, and in local tournaments.
Parents of junior members are automatically members of the club themselves, and you are encouraged to use the bar and other facilities. We would like to encourage parents to bring picnics to matches, and to join in with the various social events planned for the year.
